The Family Physician Recruitment Taskforce is a joint initiative between the Brant Community Healthcare System and the City of Brantford to support the recruitment of family physicians to the community.

Family Health Organization
  • (FHO)6+ physicians working as a group
  • Physicians enrol patients to their individual practices Regular office hours plus a minimum required after hours block
  • Blended capitation model – complement-based remuneration plus bonuses and incentives

Family Health Group (FHG)
  • 3 or more physicians practicing together either in the same office or in close proximity
  • Physicians enrol patients to their individual practices Regular office hours and 3+ after-hours blocks (3 hours) based on the number within the group
  • Fee for service model with a small bonus for enrolling patients

Community Health Centres (CHC)
  • CHCs are interdisciplinary teams that serve communities and populations who may have barriers to health services. They focus on addressing the underlying conditions that affect people’s health, such as social determinants of health, diet and literacy.
  • CHCs employs multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals including such as nurse practitioners, social workers, outreach workers etc.
  • Salaried model

Walk-In Clinics
  • Non enrolling model
  • Physicians working here have options for splitting of overhead costs, hours worked
  • Fee for service

Brantford Community Healthcare System (BCHS)

Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is a 300+ bed acute care comprised of two main hospital sites; the Brantford General Hospital and Willet Hospital in Paris, ON. With a total of 330 beds, the BCHS is an affiliated teaching site of McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Brantford General Hospital is a regional acute health centre and the Willett site provides urgent care and ambulatory services. 
 
BCHS is the area’s acute care facility, providing all of Brantford and Brant County’s specialty programs and services for our 160,000+ residents. It is a regional centre for general, orthopedic, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, plastics, gynecology/obstetrics and oral maxillofacial surgery along. Annually it sees  over 63,000 ER visits along with 1,400 births.
